1. Scope of Work
1.1 This method statement explains the procedure of duct works, including
the duct installation, insulation, fixing of ducts accessories and duct leakage
testing (Light Test).

3. Responsibilities
3.1 Mechanical
/ HVAC Engineer

He shall be overall
responsible for the complete activity including, but not limited to:
3.1.1 Assigning
workman crew
3.1.2 Sequence of
activities to be carried out for the work as per this Method
Statement.
3.1.3 Stage
inspection & surveillance
3.1.4
Notification to client engineer for inspection and daily commissioning
activities.
3.1.5 Provide day
to day guidance and delegate works as necessary.
3.1.6 Ensure that
the equipment and tools required for carrying out the test are
available, maintained and used in safe manner.
3.1.7 Produce all
necessary records for the confirmation of testing works completed
And pass to QC inspector as required.
3.2 Mechanical/HVAC Supervisor

3.3 QA/QC Inspector
3.3.1 Maintain records of quality control ckeck sheets / report formats
for the site

Control Measures
4.1 Quality Control
4.1.1 Ensure availability of latest released for construction drawings and
specifications.
4.1.2 Ensure the tools/equipment used for testing & commissioning purpose is
calibrated and certificates available.
4.2
Safety
4.2.1 All equipment and accessories have been certified for their capacity
And integrity.
4.2.2 Safety and risk assessment shall be performed for every job or task,
which has
potential for harm.
4.2.3 All
personnel are issued with Personal Protective Equipment with FRC.
5. Sequence of Activities
5.1 Handling and
Storage of Ducts
5.1.1 Unload the duct by
hand/loader and store the duct inside the
Respective buildings or
workshop area.
5.2 Primary Step
5.2.1 Check approval of
working drawings.
5.2.2 Check site clearance
for work.
5.2.3 Check wall/slab
opening as per approved drawings.
5.2.4 Notify to client for
inspection of receiving factory made duct.
5.2.5 Assembled the
fabricated ducts at site with consultant/quality

5.3 Installation
& Insulation of Duct
5.3.1 For Internal Concealed
Duct, Mark the routing of the ducts and install

supports.
5.3.2 Install the factory
made Duct as per IFC drawing.
5.3.3 Seal the duct joints
with approved sealant.
5.3.4 Apply sealant outside
of the duct between the gap and corner and also

5.3.5 Stick self-adhesive

5.4.1 Check the dimension and location of the wall/slab/ceiling opening

5.4.2 Install access doors as per the approved drawing. (Beside each MVD

fire dampers, access doors, door grilles, test holes

5.4.3 Install the grilles & diffusers properly as per IFC drawings.
5.4.4 Install flexible duct with necessary support as per the IFC
drawings.
5.4.5 Connect the both ends of the flexible duct with stainless steel
clamp.
5.4.6 Fix. The louver, grilles and diffusers as per drawing.
6. Inspection
6.1 Duct Leak Test
6.1.1 Light test
shall be performed to determine that all joints are leak proof
And it will be performed by passing a lamp

6.1.2 Light Power
