The World’s Most Expensive Watches ..

Diamonds, platinum, fancy tourbillons, chronographs, and perpetual calendars are only a few of the features watchmakers use to create the world’s rarest and most expensive timepieces.Bloomberg BusinessWeek asked the world's most prestigious luxury watch manufacturers to name their priciest products currently in the sales rooms. Of course, diamond-studded designs come with large price tags, such as Piaget’s Emperador Temple at $3.3 million and Cartier’s phoenix-shaped wristwatch at $2.7 million. Other pieces stand by their technical merits, such as Frank Muller’s Aeternitas Mega 4, with 36 complications, at $2.7 million. Louis Moinet’s new piece, Meteoris, is a $4.6 million set of four tourbillion watches, made using four meteorites from space and comes with a planetarium of the solar system.

This glamorous and beautiful watch, made for a million dollar baby is priced as priceless till date. The watch is from Jaeger-LeCoultre. The watch sparkles with 576 diamonds and a sapphire dial. It is like a bracelet. It has black leaf like hands. The winding crown is at the back of the watch. The square units of the bracelet cum watch are made entirely in 18 carat white gold.

The beautiful watch is sitting amongst the most expensive stones. It is surrounded by three red (15 carats), blue (12 carats) and silver (11 carats) colored, heart shaped diamonds. The white diamonds are arranged to form a flower. The have a yellow diamond as their center. It has 874 diamonds and weighs 201 carats.

This watch had a price of $11 million in 1999. It was auctioned at Sotheby’s auction in 1999. It was manufactured for Henry Graves. The watch dates back to 1932 and took 4 years of workmanship to complete. It’s made of 18 carats of gold and has 24 complications.

This tourbillon presents a meteorite from the planet Mars. It has a hand-engraved dial. It has used the materials from a 2000 year old, moon meteorite and hence got it’s name. The outside case is made in 18 carat gold.

The watch from the makers of Patek Philippe, costs $4 million. The watch displays 24-hour time zones in different countries. It is easy to use and distinguishable between day and night in these different zones.



6. Cartier – Secret watch with phoenix decor ($2,755,000)

This unique wrist watch of the shape of a phoenix is made rhodium, plated with white gold. The eyes of the phoenix are made of emeralds and 3.53 carat diamonds. 3,010 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 80.13 carats cover the body of the phoenix. Cartier is owned by Richemont. The phoenix flies or not, the heart sure does with this beautiful and elegant watch.

This expensive watch from Ulysse Nardin is made in platinum. The company was founded in 1846. The watch is decorated with 568 baguette-cut Top Wesselton diamonds (33.8 carats) and 234 baguette-cut royal blue sapphires (16.79 carats). It has a limited edition of 30 pieces. The watch is also available with leather strap.

This amazing watch is from Franck Muller. The company was founded in 1992 in Genthod, Switzerland. The watch has 36 complications, the most of any watch in the world. It contains a 999-year calendar and has a chronograph. It has a three-day power reserve for the movement and 24-hour reserve for the chime. It has indicators for 3 time zones.  The watch is available only in Geneva and New York.

This beautiful pocket watch from Parmigiani Fleurier. The company was founded in 1975 in Fleurier, Switzerland. It is made entirely in Palladium and has a minute repeater with cathedral chimes and a perpetual calendar. The case is extremely attractive, decorated with enamel work. It has the image of a lotus flower and the snail shape represents Fibonacci’s Golden Rule.

This Patek Philippe watch has a movement made up of 686 parts, some of which are microscopically small. This unique watch has two faces. The back of the watch has sidereal time and a sky chart that traces the stars and the phase and the orbit of the moon. It features mechanical movement that must be manually wound, a minute repeater with tourbillon escapement, leap phase and perpetual calendar. It has a platinum case.

The case, crown dial, and clasp of Hublot’s Black Caviar Bang are encrusted in baguette-cut black diamonds. The watch, which has no numbers on the face, has 544 diamonds, a total of 34.5 carats. It is 18 carat white gold and has an adjustable leather strap. In 2009, it won the Grand Prix de Genève Jewellery Watch prize. Founded in 1980, Hublot today is a subsidiary of Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton

There are 30 on the clasp too. It has an elegant black leather strap. The company was founded in 1755, standing as one of the world’s oldest watchmakers. Today it is part of the Richemont Group.

This super cool and expensive watch is designed by de Grisogono, founded in Geneva in 1993. This Meccanico dG, costs $590,000. It has 20 units. It was designed in three variants: with baguette diamonds, with black pavé diamonds and with white pavé diamonds. It is made of 18 carats of gold, and has 126 baguette-cut white diamonds. It displays two time zones and has analog and digital displays. It has a power reserve indicator.
