Brahmi is Sync Your Brain Hemispheres, Improve Memory and Cognition and More....

Ayurvedic Herb Improves Memory, Cognition and Alzheimer's
Brahmi is a popular Ayurvedic herb that has been revered in India for over 3000 years.  It doesn't matter that an ancient traditional herb has been used successfully for hundreds of years. It usually takes testing by western scientists to bring the herb's value to our attention, even while Big Pharma tries to conceal it. Such is the case with the ancient Ayurvedic herb used as a tonic for the brain, which goes by either name, Brahmi or Bacopa.

What is Brahmi?

Brahmi is a native Indian herbal remedy that may be used to treat a variety of medical conditions, especially those related to cognitive ability.
It is also known as:
  • Bacopa monneiri (Botanical name)
  • Water hyssop
  • Indian pennywart
  • Coastal waterhyssop
  • Thyme-leaf gratiola
The Brahmi plant consists of stem leaves that are thick and crinkled and arranged in opposing patterns. It is also a “creeping herb” that flourishes in bogs and muddy wetlands. Traditionally Brahmi was grown in India but can now be found in the marshy wetlands of Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, China, Central America and even Florida in the USA.

Standard Western Tests

Two recent western human trials have shown Brahmi or Bacopa to improve memory recall and learning ability as well as to reduce anxiety and relieve tension. One trial was conducted in Australia, while three institutions collaborated in a more recent USA human study: The National College of Natural Medicine, Science University, and Oregon Health.

Both double-blind studies involved human subjects over a 12 week period. Each person demonstrated a marked improvement of recall and comprehension despite using small dosages. What was surprising was that anxiety and depression also diminished greatly among the subjects undergoing these trials.

Since Brahmi (Bacopa) is a safe herb, larger doses can be used by those having too many "senior moments", memory lapses, brain fog. It even diminishes depression or anxiety while handling those other issues. Interestingly, Ayurvedic doctors have prescribed this herb for the heart as well as the brain and nervous system.

Other tests have confirmed that Brahmi (Bacopa) improves one's focus, memory, and learning ability while simultaneously calming the mind.

The Properties of Brahmi

Brahmi is loaded with antioxidants and carries a number of substances that stimulate neurotransmitter function in the brain. It is considered a brain and nerve tonic and consists of main active substances:
1. Bacoside A, which relaxes the aorta and veins that stimulates circulation and allows blood to flow more smoothly
2. Bacoside B, which is a protein that nourishes brain nerve cells.
Physiologically, Brahmi works to restore the frontal cortical receptor activities, and reduces the excessive amount of Tribulin in the brain that is often caused by for anxiety. It also acts as a natural sedative/tranquilizer, and stimulates brain dopamine receptors that are often inactive in disease states such as Parkinson’s or Depression.

The Benefits of Brahmi

Traditionally, it was used as a brain tonic to support memory, learning, and Concentration. The herb is a powerful Rejuvenator that assists with mental activity, brain functioning and overcoming feelings of nervousness or restlessness. In ancient Ayurvedic literature, Brahmi was used by scholars and students to help with memorizing lengthy Vedic texts.

Due to its calming and nurturing properties, Brahmi is also very useful for highly stressful work or study environments. Brahmi is used for Alzheimer's disease, improving memory, anxiety, attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), allergic conditions, irritable bowel syndrome, and as a general tonic to fight stress.
People also take Brahmi to treat backache, hoarseness, mental illness, epilepsy, joint pain, and sexual performance problems in both men and women. It is also sometimes used as a “water pill.”

Brahmi may prove beneficial in the treatment of many medical conditions and diseases. Some of these include:
The different chemical properties of Brahmi combine to produce benefits such as:
  • Enhanced learning, academic and mental capabilities.
  • Feeling of calmness and sedation
  • Reduction of anxiety and feeling of stress and depression
  • Increased clarity of thought
  • Improved short and long-term memory and concentration capability.
  • Reduced tension in the muscles
  • Improved insomnia
  • Assists with smooth digestion
  • Reduces symptoms of asthma
  • Calms skin disease and irritation
  • May alleviate symptoms of ADD in children
  • May slow down the signs of ageing and promote longevity
  • Body detoxification
  • Stimulation of hair and nail growth

How does it work?

Brahmi might increase certain brain chemicals that are involved in thinking, learning, and memory. Some research suggests that it might also protect brain cells from chemicals involved in Alzheimer's disease.

Whilst it will vary from person to person, the beneficial effects of Brahmi should be seen within a 3-4 week period. Please be careful to follow the advice of your local Naturopath or Ayurvedic practitioner as extremely large doses may cause toxicity and result in death.
