Islam And Smoking:
This in itself is sufficient to prohibit smoking. Islam prohibits any action that causes harm to oneself or to other people.
Allah says :
"And kill not yourselves. Undoubtedly, Allah is Merciful to you." Surah An-Nisaa : Ayat 29
"And spend in the way of Allah, and cast not yourself in destruction with your hand and be good-doers; no doubt! Good doers are the beloveds of Allah." Surah Al-Baqara : Ayat 195
And the Messenger Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) says:
"No harm may be inflicted on oneself or others." (Ahmad and Ibn Maajah from Ibn Abbaas and Ubaadah)
It is scientifically proven that the exhaled smoke of the smoker is hazardous to non-smokers around him.
For the foregoing reasons and for reasons considered elsewhere, smoking is Haram or unlawful in Islam, hence smoking should be discouraged and finally banned in all Islamic countries.
Indeed self harming you body goes against Islam, eventhough your not committing a suicidal act. Harming the body in any way is unlawful in Islam. Here are some example's smoking, drinking, taking drugs all these categories goes against Islam why? Because they harm the body.
Allah will question you for ever single action you have committed in this world and ask you why did you commit this action.

Tips:
Keep yourself distracted and occupied, go for walks.
Keep your mind busy. Read a book or magazine
Keep your hands/fingers busy. Squeeze balls, pencils, or paper clips are good substitutes to satisfy that need for tactile stimulation.
Keep other things around to pop in your mouth when you’re craving a cigarette. Good choices include mints, hard candy, carrot or celery sticks, gum, and sunflower seeds.
Flushing toxins from your body minimizes withdrawal symptoms and helps cravings pass faster.
There are also medicines available on prescription, talk to your doctor about what would be best for you.
Also having support around you from your family and friends is important, because they can really help you. Your support group will look over you and know your goal of quitting smoking so as to reward you when you achieve it.
Once you have decided to quit smoking you will notice your health improving. Your taste buds will improve as will your sense of smell and your breathing will return to normal, although this will take some time as the lungs clean themselves gradually and it is a slow process. Being able to really taste and enjoy your food again will help you to stay off the cigarettes for good.
