Millions of Muslims all around the world perform Umrah throughout the year. Before leaving for the prestigious journey there are certain pieces of advice for pilgrims to be followed to make your holy trip flawless. First of all your purpose and intention is purely for Allah’s sake. Leave your anger, comfort, expectations, panic and excitement at your home. Always try to maintain a smiley face and before going fill your briefcase with bundle of patience. Make intention of not doing any backbiting or quarrelling during their holy trip. Your main focus should be on your prayers, make lots of supplications and ask Allah for forgiveness when you are in His Holy land.
Try to remain in a state of Wudhu all the time on both the holy lands of Makkah and Madinah. Do not take pictures of Holy Kabah; it may be a measure of disrespect. Give Sadaqah every day, even if it is only one Riyal. Drink lots of ZamZam instead of drinking soft or cold drinks. For your spiritual preparation read Fazaail-e-Hajj thoroughly before going. Make a daily routine plan, how much Salah, Nawafil, Tasbeeh, Zikr, Tilawat, etc you will be going to recite. After every Salah recites “Sayidul Astagfar” at least three times. Prepare a list of duas you have to make for yourself and your loved ones at Haram Sharif and other sacred places. These are some general rules to make your Umrah more celestial.
Before leaving for Umrah trip prepare yourself well and read as much as you can about Umrah rituals, sacred places, Duas or supplication to recite according to the moment for example you must know the dua of intention, viewing Holy Kabah etc. If you know the rituals already there is less chance of any mistake and you can spend more time in prayers instead of learning what to next at that time.
You must know the rules of Ihram. Ihram is two piece of cloth which Muslims must have to before performing Umrah. With sacred state comes a list of simple rules that must be followed and some can violate these rules without thinking which make the pilgrimage unnecessary. Do not use scented soap as it is prohibited for men and women either to use any kind of scent or perfume when in the state of Ihram.
There should be things that can protect you in your bags. For example to avoid chaffing as you have to walk very lot. Keep Vaseline or any other good moisturizing cream that can protect you.
Do your homework and prepare yourself well. Research about Makkah and Madina and make list of things you have to do there. Also prepare yourself for any kind of emergency, in that case, make copy of your passport and other important documents and send an e-mail to yourself and any of your family members to avoid any kind of mishap.
While you are on your Umrah trip make as much dua as you can. AS our beloved Prophet PBUH said “Dua is the essence of any worship”. So take advantage of your Holy journey and make dua for yourself, your family and loved ones.
