I am getting many enquiries from TCAM professionals (Traditional Complementary and Alternative Medicine) regarding their MOH exams and other details. Hope this post will help the TCAM professionals

There is a separate section under UAE Ministry of Health (MOH) for Complementary and Alternative Medicines (TCAM). The exams are conducted 3 times a year. The Office of TCAM (Traditional, Complementary and Alternative Medicine) at the Ministry of Health is the authority regulates and maintenance the standards of Alternative Medicine within the UAE.

Herbal medicine, Chinese acupuncture, muscular massage treatment and medical ozone oxygen treatments were among the alternative medicine therapies streamlined by the UAE Ministry of Health in 2005 along with traditional, herbal, homeopathic, osteopathy, chiropractic and naturopathic medicines. These include Ayurveda, Acupuncture, Unani, Herbal medicine, Cupping etc

Qualifying the MOH examination for traditional, complementary and alternative medical (TCAM) practitioners is a must in order to practice in UAE. The examination is generally conducted in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

Doctors
Try searching the ministry of health website (links at the end of this post), The exam is of 2 part MCQs and if you pass with this they will call you for the interview (Viva).
The doctors can try for a job in private hospitals and apply for a medical license while you are at work. Getting a job in private sector in the UAE is much easier, but working hours are more and pay is less. When you pass with the license you are allowed to work in Ministry hospitals in the Emirates except Dubai and Abudhabi, these two emirates have a different licensing. The applicants can submit the application in MOH office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. (you can find the address with phone numbers at the end of this post)

MOH exam is held in Dubai, application can either be submitted in MOH office in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi. Successful pass of MOH examinations entitled the doctors to take the job in ministry of health hospitals and reputed private hospitals. Your performance in the exam is important you will be evaluated after the exam whether you are qualified to work only in Private hospitals or both private and ministry hospital.

I will explain on the registration in Dubai and Abu Dhabi you need to pass the licensing exam of DOH or GAHS to work in work in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi national hospitals respectively. After you pass the DOH or GAHS try applying with the ministry hospitals and private hospitals. They will pass the information regarding the job openings after you qualify the MOH, DOH or the GAHS, but don’t wait for this you can start trying
by approaching different hospitals, it’s your responsibility to find a job and successful passing of the exams will support you to get you the job.

The DHA/DOH exam is only panel interview and there is no written exam, but MOH has two parts panel interview and written exam.

A DHA/DOH allows you to work in Dubai while the MOH will qualify you to work in any other emirate besides Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Dentist
UAE government allows you to practice by yourself, for this you need to be an MDS qualified dentist with 2 years of experience. If you are BDS graduate, you can only work as an assistant to an MDS doctor. The dentists who wish to practice in Dubai must appear for DOH viva exam and for practicing in other Emirates he need to pass the MOH written and Viva. You need to carry your original attested certificates for the interview and you will get the results in 3 days time.
If you wish to work in UAE try for a sponsor who is ready to sponsor you and offer a job in any clinics and the clinic will do the necessary arrangements for your DOH/MOH exam.

You need to check with the concern authority on the experience required to practice in Dubai and other emirates of UAE because the requirements by the ministry keep changing. Usually the ministry ask for MDS with some experience to practice as a Dental General practise and MDS with 3 years for practicing as a Dental Specialist. For BDS candidates to practice as a Dental GP they need to have 5 years of experience.

I am reminding you on the attestation part again you need to attest your MDS/BDS certificates before you turn for the interview.
A s I mentioned in the Doctors section, you can try for a job before you register for MOH/DOH exam. You can contact the clinics, Hospitals directly or use your network effectively. Keep update with job section of leading newspapers and portals, you can get the details from
job-hunting-support section

3. look for
saudi Commission for Health Specialties ( SCHS ) or click here http://www.prometric.com/SCHS

info about the exam ...You click on STARTED
5. After that you have to
choose your country and program ....( you click next at the bottom of the page )You better ask for your employer for this..

6. Click on
Schedule an exam.... In this page they will give you an instructions what are the things that you need .. Most Importantly is your ID ... much better if Passport but PRC License is also accepted. ( click next at the bottom )

7. Exam selection
you have to choose what type of exam that suites for you... Ask your employer for this.Mostly, NURSE TECHNICIAN advise ng agency but for me when I checked the difference a Nurse Specialist have more than 3 years and beyond practice while a Nurse technician is with the minimum required experience of 2 years which is the requirement to be issued with this license.
8.
Testing Center - choose kung saan area mo gustong mag take if your from cebu or manila .. type mo lang din locate for the nearest testing center ...
9. They will ask for
 your information
10.
select an Exam schedule There's a calendar with dates na ang exam schedules are darkened... once you clicked a date a corresponding time slots for the exam will appear in the upper right corner( 9 AM, 11 AM 13:00 PM and 15:00 PM).

In case you want to reschedule your exam, rescheduling should be done at least not later than 3days before the scheduled date you have chosen before noon time. Otherwise you will be charged again for another fee.

About the EXAM and TESTING CENTERS
Sa testing center they will give you an instructions for the test and may lockers for safekeeping of your personal belongings.

In my experience I took Nurse Specialist unknowingly because my agency didn't advise me that it is OK if the category is Nurse Technician. Somehow I survived and passed. The testing center will issue you your passing score with attestation (dry seal at the bottom and signed by the Proctor) in a bond paper. This will serve as a proof that you took your licensing exam and passed and accordingly when you arrive in Saudi Arabia the HR of your employer will endorse such to Saudi Council of Health Specialties and will issue you a license(similar to that of PRC card daw).I haven't got an experience to secure one yet because I just retook the exam. My Saudi Council exam was way back 2000 and it is only a certification in Arabic but was lost with my previous employer, thus my agency advise me to retake. What a relief in my part... a burden unloaded so I can just be concentrating in my work when I arrive. Also better to take the exam here aside that the fee is cheaper which is 90U$ compared when in Saudi that costs 850SAR, it is convenient to secure a definite date to schedule your exams. In the year 2006, with my last employer I worked with, they tried to sit me for the exam mid of 2006 December noon available date of exam for me and my colleagues. if your HR is unorganized schedule exam because documents better obtain your exam. Foremost, I clarified with my agency if my employer will refund my testing fee...it is the applicant's responsibility to pay for the testing fees and license when obtaining in Saudi, the HR of our employer will just facilitate the issuance through SCHS(other employer do it as salary deduction which is more costly). Hope this info helps. Good luck to all RNs bound to work in Saudi Arabia.

HINT what review materials to use before the exam:

SCH are in need for pharmacists in these days as they have asked for pharmacist in more than a news paper in some countries out Qatar, you can follow those steps as I mentioned or if you are in Doha pay them a visit in the C ring road opposite to Regency Travel before the the signal and the tunnel on the same side of Ramada when your direction is toward the tunnel.
